IF THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TODAY... September 26, 2010

As we finish the second to last weekend of the season, things are clearer and things are muddier.

Congrats to the Texas Rangers who clinched a playoff spot and essentially has no chance to catch the Rays, Twins or Yankees and won't have home field in the Division Series.

Get your starters ready and do what you can to get Hamilton back in the line up.

Meanwhile the National League race is clearer (both the Phillies and Reds can clinch today) and murkier (1 game separates the Giants, Padres and Braves and the Rockies won't go away.)

In fact with today's scenario comes all sorts of possible combinations...

AMERICAN LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES

TAMPA BAY RAYS (AL East Champion)
has home field advantage over
TEXAS RANGERS (AL West Champion)

MINNESOTA TWINS
(AL Central Champion)
has home field advantage over
NEW YORK YANKEES (AL Wild Card)

NATIONAL LEAGUE
ONE GAME PLAYOFF FOR THE WILD CARD

ATLANTA BRAVES
versus
SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES
IF ATLANTA WINS

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (NL East Champion)
has home field advantage over
CINCINNATI REDS (NL Central Champion)

SAN DIEGO PADRES
(NL West Champion)
has home field advantage over
ATLANTA BRAVES (NL Wild Card)

NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES
IF SAN FRANCISCO WINS

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (NL East Champion)
has home field advantage over
SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (NL Wild Card)

SAN DIEGO PADRES (NL West Champion)
has home field advantage over
CINCINNATI REDS (NL Central Champion)

Don't lose a game now... stub your toe and you might be out.

Think THIS is complicated?
Just imagine if the Red Sox or Rockies climb into it!
